The Water Cycle
Nearly , three quarters of the world is covered by water . There are two kinds of water : fresh and salt water . Fresh water is found in rivers, lakes and wells . Salt water is found in seas and oceans . We can’t drink water because it is too salty. About 90% of all fresh water in the world is in Antarctica . It is not used because it is remote .
Water is very important in our lives . It has many different uses. Water is used for drinking , cooking , making electricity and irrigating crops .
Conservation : An Urgent Need
It is dangerous problem that millions of animal and plant species face extinction . There are several reasons for this . One is that man hunts and fishes too efficiently . He uses helicopters and machine-guns . Another reason is pollution of the environment . The main cause of extinction is deforestation .Men cut down forests to create the land for agriculture . They also need wood for fuel and for building .
Air Travel in Saudi Arabia
Our airline started in 1946. There were only four airports in Jeddah , Riyadh , Hofuf and Dhahran .The trip took four and half hours. Until 1954, only Jeddah , Riyadh , Hofuf , Dhahran , Taif and Madinah received regular flights . Then, air travel began to expand . More modern airports were built . The Saudi Arabian airlines acquired larger and faster airplanes . Air travel increased because air fare reduced by 25%. Now , Saudia has twenty domestic destinations and it has more then 100 planes . Flying is enjoyable and comfortable . Sometimes , air travel is dangerous . It is also expensive .
The Holy Month of Ramadan
Ramadan is the ninth month in Islamic calendar . All adult must fast Ramadan . They are not allowed to eat or drink between dawn and sunset . Fasting strengthens a person by increasing his self-control . It also helps a Muslim to remember Allah and his obedience to Him. Some are excused from fasting . Some may be too old or too ill. Others are on journey. Women who are expecting or nursing a baby can not fast. Eid Al-Fitr comes after Ramadan . Muslims all over the world celebrate it . Muslims enjoy themselves with friends and relatives.
